The rocket carrying the biggest and most complex “Perseverance” Mars rover equipped with a PIXL unit powered by KETEK VITUS SDDs has been successfully launched on July 30th, 2020 at 7:50 a.m. EDT. The landing on Mars is scheduled for February 18th, 2021. The Planetary Instrument for X-ray Lithochemistry (PIXL) gives the scientists the possibility to detect and analyze the chemical elements in the collected samples with much higher precision compared to previous missions.
