Figure 2, Throughput: The diagram provides the throughput behaviour of the AXAS-M including the optional Digital Pulse Processor (DPP). It shows the dependency of the output count rate with the input count rate for different digital peaking times. The lower the peaking time, the higher is the maximum throughput for a system.

Figure 3, Energy Resolution with Input Count Rate: The energy resolution of the AXAS-M including a Digital Pulse Processor is mostly independent from the input count rate. The graph shows the dependency of the Full Width at half maximum with the incoming photons (input count rate) for different digital peaking times.

Figure 4, Peak Position: The graph shows the independency of the peak position of the Mn-Ka line with the input count rate for different digital peaking times for the AXAS-M with an optional Digital Pulse Processor (DPP).

Figure 5: The diagram provides the principle of operation of an AXAS-M. It shows the SDD module including the Peltier element, the FET, temperature sensor and the SDD Chip itself. Together with the Preamplifier including all necessary filtering, voltage dividers and groundings, it forms the AXAS-M1. AXAS-M2 consists of a wide range input power supply, a high voltage module, a Peltier (TEC) Controller module and optional signal processing units.

Figure 6: All AXAS have a compact aluminium housing plated with Nickel. All screws are made of stainless steel. The systems can be fixed to a plate using M3 screws. The mounting plates are compatible for all AXAS. - Finger diameter 20mm for all AXAS with VITUS SDD up to 50mm² active area, 25mm diameter for all AXAS-M with VITUS H80 or R100 SDD.
