The KETEK Digital Pulse Processor (DPP) is a specially designed pulse forming amplification board for KETEK VITUS Silicon Drift Detectors (SDD), that offers a fully digital, low noise, software controlled and high performance digital shaping amplifier. It shows excellent energy resolution, low peak shift, high linearity, high throughput and stable input count rate behaviour with low peak shift and stable energy resolution for count rates up to 500,000 counts.
The KETEK VITUS Preamplifier is a specially designed amplification board for KETEK VITUS Silicon Drift Detectors (SDD), that offers a low noise, charge sensitive, reset type mechanism with either internal or external reset, controlled by onboard jumpers. In both cases the height of reset pulse and therefore the reset frequency can be adjusted onboard to any kind of solid state detectors. The preamplifier also provides a bias control for operating point setting of the detector’s FET by adjusting the bulk or substrate voltage.
The AXAS MCA is a complete highly sophisticated data acquisition system including an ADC and multichannel analyzer for IBM or compatible personal computers. It can be connected via serial USB or Bluetooth and therefore is also ideal for most laptop computers.
The usage of state-of-the-art integrated circuits lead to the excellent performance and stability previously reserved for standalone systems. The MCA not only provides the user with a high resolution Pulse Height Analyzing (PHA) ADC but also with a complete Multichannel Data Processor (MCD). The ADC is a 2k or 4k channel with a fixed conversion time of 370 ns. It includes Lower and Upper Level Discriminators (LLD, ULD) providing Single Channel Analyzer (SCA) capabilities for data reduction etc. The MCA is particularly designed for use in x-ray spectroscopy with the AXAS-A (Analytical X-ray Acquisition System – Analogue) but also ideal for other applications. It exhibits excellent integral- and differential linearity. The high conversion speed and the good channel profile make it an ideal choice for KETEK's Silicon drift detectors.
The onboard Digital to Analogue Converters (DAC) enables software control of all AXAS parameters (e.g. temperature control, gain adjustment) without added hardware. In addition the user-friendly operating software allows the user to easily control all the features of the MCA data acquisition system. Since all the functions are fully under software control no jumpers or switches have to be set. This means once the MCA is connected and the driver installed in your computer no further hardware changes are necessary. The sophisticated WINDOWS based control and analysis software MCDWIN ensures quick learning and easy usage.
For all AXAS a specially designed protection cap is available. This cap provides an additional external collimator to protect the entrance window of the SDD itself and helps to further improve the Peak-to-Background and Peak-to-Tail Ratio of the measured spectra.
Collimator materials are Zr, Pd and Mo, others and additional protection foils on demand. The diameter depends on the detector size and can be chosen by the customer.
As a part of the AXAS-A, several different analog shaping amplifiers can be chosen: The shaping time constants vary from 0.15µs up to 6µs, with steps of 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 3 and 4. Others on request.
The shaper provides an output signal between 0 and +5V with an input impedance of 1Meg Ohm and can therefore be used as an input signal to any standard ADC/MCA. The energy range is typically 0 to 10, 20 or 30keV and can be adjusted on-board. Others on request.
